From Bedside to Blog: Why I’m Sharing My Journey

After 15 years of walking hospital hallways—from Nairobi to Louisiana and finally Virginia—I’ve learned that healing doesn’t end at the bedside. It stretches beyond physical wounds. It shows up in our silent struggles, our resilience, and our need to be seen and heard. Over the years, I’ve cared for patients in the chaos of ERs, the precision of operating rooms, and the sacred quiet of transplant units. Yet, I’ve come to realize: sometimes, what we all need most is a story. One that reminds us we’re not alone. One that offers hope, truth, and a hand to hold—even if only through words.

That’s why I created this space. This blog isn’t just about nursing. It’s about people—our quiet battles, bold comebacks, and the choices we make when no one’s watching.

I remember a day that changed something in me. I was flushing a patient’s IV line when he winced from the brief discomfort and, in frustration, hurled his coffee cup toward me. The coffee was hot. Angry. Sudden. And yet—by some twist of grace or wind—it missed me. In that moment, I didn’t feel anger. I felt the weight of what it means to be a nurse. To absorb pain that isn’t ours, to stand in fire with composure, and to return the next day still willing to care. That moment stayed with me. Not because of the near burn, but because it reminded me: our battles are often invisible. But they are very real.

I remember the hospital leadership offering to pursue the patient. But I refused. There was no worth in escalating pain, no healing in retribution. That moment reminded me that nursing is not just a profession—it’s a choice to respond with grace when you have every reason not to. And it’s in that grace, quietly and without recognition, where the soul of nursing lives.

In a world that often only celebrates what’s visible, I want to celebrate what isn’t: the late-night studying, the missed holidays, the acts of service no one sees, the courage to keep going. My hope is that whether you’re a nurse, student, creative, or someone just trying to navigate life—you’ll find something here that speaks to your soul.

I’ll be writing about everything from healthcare insights to the power of mindset, from modern career paths to mindfulness and motivation. Expect honesty. Expect empathy. Expect a voice that carries both stethoscope and storytelling. And above all, expect to be reminded that your purpose still matters—even in the chaos.

This is just the beginning. I’m excited—and honestly, a little nervous—to put myself out here. But if you’re reading this, then something connected us. And for that, I’m grateful.
